  • 15:15 Exhibition opens, with tea and cake Opera Studio (AGOS)
    Start your Convention weekend with afternoon tea, sponsored by Snape Maltings' Friday Afternoons and take a first look round our extensive music-trade exhibition. It takes place throughout the weekend in the Opera Studio and is a great place to browse, get ideas, plan new repertoire, plan choir tours, book workshops, buy equipment and much more. All the major music publishers, music tour agents and many other specialists will be there.
  • 16:15 Session 1b: Sing Pop Movement Room 1 (M1)
    Led by Helen Hampton of Popchoir, start Convention in lively style - come and join in with this contemporary singing session.
  • 16:15 Session 1a: Passionate about Bach Stevenson Hall
    With John Butt. Gardiner Professor of Music at Glasgow University and musical director of Edinburgh's Dunedin Consort, John is the author of books on Bach's B Minor Mass, Bach's Passions and on Bach interpretation. His session shows what it is about JSB's music that still excites him even after thirty years as a Bach performer and scholar. Including practical tips on working on a chorale and chorus from the St John Passion, which the Dunedin Consort are performing a few days earlier at the Proms.
  • 16:15 Session 1c: Parry Songs of Farewell Rehearsal Room 2 (R2)
    Jeremy Jackman leads this extra session, looking at the more well-known of Parry's Songs of Farewell - an extra bite at the cherry for delegates before singing the rest in our final plenary session on Sunday afternoon.
  • 17:30 Regional Meetings (see delegate leaflet for location)
    The opportunity to meet and network with others leading singers in the same field as you. Exchange problems and find solutions!
  • 18:15 Chair's Reception Opera Studio (AGOS)
    Meet and greet other delegates over a glass of wine.

    On your first evening at Convention, socialise and enjoy dinner at the newly-refurbished Grand Ballroom of the DoubleTree Hilton Hotel, a few yards away from the RCS.
  • 20:30 Post-dinner jazz with Bob Chilcott Doubletree Hilton Hotel (Grand Ballroom)
    Bob Chilcott leads a convivial evening of post-dinner singing, featuring his jazz-inspired pieces the Little Jazz Mass and  Ophilia, Caliban and Miranda - with the bar at hand!
