Susan Dingle

Susan Dingle is a freelance orchestral and choral conductor who studied at the State Conservatory of St Petersburg with Ilya Musin and Aleksandr Polishchuk and the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama with Martyn Brabbins. 
Since leaving the RSAMD she has worked with a wide variety of ensembles and orchestras around the UK including the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Paragon Ensemble, Lontano, Highland Chamber Orchestra, Kelvin Ensemble and the Kentigern Ensemble. From 1998 to 2013 she was principal conductor of the Highland Region Youth Orchestra and has also conducted the Renfrewshire Schools Symphony Orchestra and the Stirlingshire Youth Orchestra. In 2016 she became the conductor of the Aberdeenshire Youth Orchestra and in 2018 will lead them on tour in Belgium. She has also been the conductor of the Wind Bands for the Scottish Schools Orchestra Trust for the past ten years.  
Since 2012 she has been the conductor of The Caithness Orchestra and the St John’s Singers and in 2014 she took over as the conductor of the Wick Choral Society. She also conducts the Caithness Junior Orchestra and the Far North Youth Orchestra. She was music director of the Cumbernauld Choir from 1998 to 2012 and was the founding conductor of the Glasgow Caledonian University Choir until June 2012. 
Susan is also an experienced Russian language coach and vocal coach and has an extensive knowledge of operatic repertoire. 
Susan moved permanently to Caithness in July 2012 and now teaches privately for after several years as a french horn and brass teacher at the Edinburgh Academy and Cargilfield Preparatory School.
