Craig McCleish

Craig McCleish began his musical life as a chorister at St Paul’s Cathedral under Barry Rose. He began composing at the age of 10.

After a degree at York University he returned to London to study at the Guildhall and sang again at St Paul’s as a tenor. At the time he was also arranging and copying music for West End shows such as Les Miserables and Miss Saigon. He also worked as musical assistant for David Heneker Half a Sixpence and David Fanshawe African Sanctus.

He has been musical director of Young Voices UK for 19 years, choosing and arranging an annual concert for large school choirs to sing together in arenas with a live band and solo artists.

He has recently had some choral works published, notably I’ve Known Rivers to words by Langston Hughes, and Gaelic Blessing for upper voices. In 2020 a new work Beyond The Horizon will be performed in both Plymouth UK and USA to mark 400 years since the sailing of the Mayflower.

He has recently launched a website called ChoirCommunity.net to enable Community Choirs to access affordable arrangements. He directs the Milton Keynes Community Choir and Milton Keynes Youth Choir and a new Friday morning classical venture entitled TGI Choir!
