Richard Jeffries is a highly experienced music practitioner who is in high demand as a vocal animateur, directing many vibrant choirs, leading workshops and as a classroom music specialist.
He has conducted choirs of up to 200 singers in venues such
as Symphony Hall, Bridgewater Hall, Warwick Arts Centre, the Royal Northern
School of Music, Lichfield Cathedral, Adrian Boult Hall, Elgar Hall, Birmingham
Town Hall and Sutton Coldfield Town Hall. He leads regular ‘Sing Out’ workshops
in Derbyshire, and has been a regular on the adjudicator panel for vocal and
instrumental competitions at Staffordshire Music Hub.
Richard is Artistic Director of Singing Community of Choirs (SC Choirs) and part of the team of conductors which vocally trains over 200 people of all ages every week from across Sutton Coldfield and the surrounding areas. Accolades include 3rd place at Llangollen International Eisteddfod in 2013, 2014 and 2015 – as well as winning the Manchester Amateur Choral Competition in 2015.
He founded Social Singers with colleague Helen Williams, covering Sutton Coldfield, Lichfield and Solihull districts. These non-auditioned daytime choirs cater for those who are retired as well as mums whose children are at school!
Richard has been awarded a Churchill Fellowship from the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust. He will be visiting Finland, Canada and America to carry out his research project Harnessing the power of singing and its effect on learning.
